At Peggy’s Speech Therapy, I believe there is always hope for improvement. Even if past speech therapy didn’t bring the results you hoped for, progress is still possible.
After more than 40 years as a speech-language pathologist, I’ve seen how frustrating the R sound can be. A learner may work on R for months or even years and still struggle to use it clearly.
I also know how frustrating it can feel for parents, SLPs, and SLPAs when you keep trying different ideas and still aren’t sure what to do next.
That’s why I created Home Run Speech®.
My approach starts by looking at the mouth movements a learner needs for R. In most cases, we begin with Functional Mouth Exercises to build those skills. Then we work toward a quality “er” and build R step by step into words, phrases, sentences, and everyday speech.
Parents, SLPs, and SLPAs can all be part of the process. When everyone understands what the learner is working on and practices it regularly, the learner has more opportunities to use those R skills outside of practice time.

Home Run Speech® takes the guesswork out of teaching the R sound. Created for parents, SLPs, and SLPAs, it provides a clear path for helping children, teens, and adults build their R skills from the foundation through everyday speech.
The program begins with the foundation. Learners build the mouth movements they need for R, work toward a quality “er,” and then move step by step through R syllables, words, phrases, sentences, and everyday speech.

Peggy Steiniger, M.A., CCC-SLP
I’m a speech-language pathologist with over 40 years of experience helping children, teens, and adults improve their communication skills.
Over the years, I became especially interested in helping people who struggle with the R sound. I’ve worked with learners who had been trying to improve R for months or even years, along with parents and professionals who weren’t sure what to try next.
I created Home Run Speech® to give parents, SLPs, and SLPAs a clear, step-by-step way to teach R. My goal is to take the guesswork out of teaching R and help you understand what your learner needs to work on and where to go next.
I believe there is always hope for improvement. With the right instruction, regular practice, and a team working together, learners can continue building their R skills.
